On November 28, 2017, I particapated in a mock interview workshop with Michael Robinson for CommUniversity. The purpose of this event was to help individuals who are struggling to get a job to obtain better interview skills.
My key takeaway was being able to help others gain new skills to be successful during the interview process. Not only did the participants learn, so did I. I learn and gained experience in being the interviewer. I was grouped with 2 other SHRM members and the VP for Temple HR. Each one of them showed me techniques on how to select the right question to gain as much information from the candidate as possible. This event was eye opening because I was able to help someone in need and to learn that I have a passion for recruiting. I enjoyed learning more about the interviewing side of HR from the interviewer’s perspective.
